Data Types in C and C++
Data types specify the type of value that a variable can store. C and C++ provide several built-in data types.
Common Data Types
| Data Type | Purpose |
|---|---|
| int | Stores integer values |
| float | Stores decimal values |
| double | Stores larger precision decimal values |
| char | Stores a single character |
| bool | Stores true or false values in C++ |
Example
int marks = 85;
float temperature = 36.5;
char grade = A;
double salary = 45000.75;
Choosing the appropriate data type helps programs use memory efficiently and represent data correctly.
